GMAT Tip: This is an apples vs oranges question - Framework #2. You're trying to compare to things, but the GMAT folks purposely tweak the sentence in such a way that it makes it hard to spot what exactly you're comparing.
There are a few items here:
1) marketing officers themselves 2) the salary of marketing officers 3) product development engineers 4) the saary of product development engineers
Always make sure you are comparing things at the same level - otherwise the sentence won't make sense.
